The Yealink MVC S98 is a Microsoft Teams Rooms system designed for extra-large meeting spaces. The package includes an MCore 4 mini-PC, an MTouch Plus touch panel, three SmartVision 80 cameras, an AVHub processor, an RCH40 E2 PoE switch, a RoomSensor, and a BYOD extender. Each SmartVision 80 has four lenses with one PTZ camera and three electronic cameras. The PTZ lens zooms 20x optically for sharp close-ups across the room. The AI tracking feature handles IntelliFocus, speaker tracking, presenter tracking, and auto-framing without manual adjustments.

The AVHub connects up to 9 cameras at once with flexible layout controls and multi-speaker tracking. The MCore 4 uses an Intel Ultra5 125H processor with strong AI performance. The Yealink MVC S98 can control meetings through the 11.6-inch MTouch Plus, while RoomSensor checks room occupancy and shows temperature and humidity readings. What phone system does it work with?

Yealink’s top native Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows system, built for extra-large and ProAV spaces — boardrooms, training centres, lecture theatres, classrooms and multi-function rooms. Mini-PC preloaded with Windows 11 IoT Enterprise and the Teams Rooms application and the Yealink Camera Control plug-in. This is a designed-and-installed system, not a box a customer plugs in: a room of this scale needs an AV design before anything is ordered.

THE LICENCE QUESTION EVERY BUYER MISSES. Microsoft Teams Rooms is licensed per ROOM DEVICE, not per user — a two-person huddle space and a thirty-seat boardroom each need exactly one licence. Two separate things are required for every room: a resource account (an Exchange Online mailbox that holds the room’s calendar) AND a device licence. Teams Rooms Basic is free but covers a maximum of 25 rooms per tenant; beyond that, every additional device needs a Teams Rooms Pro licence regardless of which features you actually want. Pro lists at roughly USD $40 per room per month. Teams Rooms Basic also cannot license Teams Panels, and multi-display support is a Pro feature — which a room of this type will almost always need.

NOTE: Microsoft’s 1 April 2026 licensing update moved several Teams Premium capabilities — town halls, webinars, eCDN and immersive events — into Teams Enterprise, and renamed the Teams Shared Devices licence to Teams Shared Space. Teams Rooms Basic and Pro were not changed by that update.

The kit comprises three SmartVision80 quad-eye intelligent cameras, a VCR20 remote, the Yealink MCoreKit-C5U (MCore4 mini-PC, MTouch Plus console and RoomSensor), an AVHub multi-camera processor, an MVC-BYOD-Extender USB BYOD adapter, an RCH40 E2 four-port Gigabit PoE+ room cable hub, plus power adapters, cables and wall brackets. The RCH40 E2 supplies up to 30W per port from a 90W budget, and its E2 specification — QoS enabled, Energy Efficient Ethernet disabled — is what allows Yealink CM20 ceiling microphones, CS10 speakers and Dante devices to run off it.

Cameras, microphones and speakers connect to the AVHub over PoE, which keeps the cabling manageable in a large room. The AVHub supports up to nine cameras simultaneously, so the system scales well beyond its shipped configuration. Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 125H with an integrated NPU, 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 256GB SSD. AV LAN and internet separation by design on the MCore 4.

CRITICAL — THE SYSTEM SHIPS WITH NO AUDIO DEVICES. The MVC S98 is designed to be paired with Yealink professional audio specified separately: CM50 beamforming ceiling microphones, CS10 or CS10-D ceiling loudspeakers and the AP08 digital signal processor. A quote that omits the audio is not a working room, and in a lecture theatre or boardroom, the ceiling audio is a substantial part of the total cost and the whole of the installation labour. The SmartVision 80 does carry a built-in four-microphone array, but it exists to locate the active speaker so the camera can track them — it is not room audio pickup and does not replace ceiling microphones. Video: three SmartVision80 quad-lens 4K cameras, each combining one panoramic lens, two telephoto lenses and one PTZ lens with 20x optical zoom. Yealink also describes this arrangement as a “3+1 eye” camera; it is the same unit. Presenter Tracking holds a lossless close-up at distances of up to 20 metres. AI: IntelliFocus, Speaker Tracking, Presenter Tracking, Video Fence, Picture-in-Picture, Auto Framing , Best-view Switching, multi-camera IntelliFocus and Multi-Stream IntelliFrame, which gives each participant an individual video stream and name tag in Teams and is supported here because the cameras run as part of a Teams Rooms on Windows system.

Extra-large rooms and ProAV environments: boardrooms, training centres, large conference spaces, classrooms and lecture theatres. Presenter Tracking and the multi-camera architecture make it a genuine teaching and presentation system rather than a meeting-room product. Where a customer wants more than three camera angles, the AVHub takes up to nine. The system can also be networked with other MVC S98 rooms for divisible spaces that merge and split.

Three SmartVision80 cameras, VCR20 remote, MCoreKit-C5U, AVHub, MVC-BYOD-Extender, RCH40 E2, power adapters, cables and wall brackets. NO AUDIO DEVICES AND NO DISPLAYS ARE INCLUDED — both must be specified and quoted separately. Supplied, installed and supported in Australia by Com2 Communications (1300 887 495). The kit carries a two-year hardware warranty. Power adapters supplied for the Australian market ship with an AU plug and carry the RCM mark; on a multi-room rollout, check that the AU pack is supplied and not a grey import with a US or EU adapter. Nothing stated here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. NETWORK AND ROOM READINESS: a Teams Room needs a data point at the display position, adequate bandwidth and QoS, and — for wireless content sharing — reliable Wi-Fi. The most common cause of a disappointing Teams Room is the room, not the hardware. A room of this scale needs a proper AV design, ceiling access for microphones and speakers, and commissioning. Design and installation are quoted as separate line items.

Against the MVC S50: a different class of system. The S50 is one all-in-one bar plus a mini-PC for a medium-to-large room; the S98 is a modular multi-camera ProAV system with separately specified ceiling audio for an extra-large space.

Against the MVC S80: the closest relative. The S80 uses the same SmartVision 80 camera, the same MCore 4 and MCoreKit-C5U, and the same separately specified audio, but ships with one camera rather than three and without the AVHub, BYOD extender or RCH40 E2. Yealink positions the S80 for large rooms and the S98 for ultra-large rooms and divisible spaces, so the question is whether one camera position can cover the room. Against the MVC S90: an earlier-generation ProAV system built on the MCore Pro mini-PC with UVC86 dual-eye cameras rather than the MCore 4 and SmartVision 80.
