An embedded speech recognition engine within the Avaya 9650 desk phones allows for enhanced dialling of an individual contact by simply speaking the person’s name. For a contact entry with multiple phone numbers (work, home), the phone user can specify “call Barry Jones at work” and the 9650 has the intelligence to make it happen seamlessly. For hot desking staff, a USB drive can be plugged in to log into any 9600 phone and access their own list of personal contacts. When the USB is inserted into a 9600 Series desk phone, it logs the user in and allows users to speech dial any of the up to 250 personal contacts supported by the phones.
