What phone system does it work with?

An all-in-one Android video collaboration bar for premium small-to-medium rooms, supporting native Microsoft Teams Rooms, native Zoom Rooms and a wired General (BYOD) mode. The platform is selected during first-time setup and can be changed later via a factory reset, so the ordering codes differ by what’s bundled with the bar rather than by a locked platform.

THE LICENCE QUESTION EVERY BUYER MISSES. Microsoft Teams Rooms is licensed per ROOM DEVICE, not per user — a two-person huddle space and a thirty-seat boardroom each need exactly one licence. Two separate things are required for every room: a resource account (an Exchange Online mailbox that holds the room’s calendar) AND a device licence. Teams Rooms Basic is free but covers a maximum of 25 rooms per tenant; beyond that, every additional device needs a Teams Rooms Pro licence regardless of which features you actually want. Pro lists at roughly USD $40 per room per month. Teams Rooms Basic also cannot license Teams Panels, and dual-screen support is a Pro feature — relevant here, because the A40 drives two displays.

NOTE: Microsoft’s 1 April 2026 licensing update moved several Teams Premium capabilities — town halls, webinars, eCDN and immersive events — into Teams Enterprise, and renamed the Teams Shared Devices licence to Teams Shared Space. Teams Rooms Basic and Pro were not changed by that update.

All-in-one: camera, audio and compute in the bar, so the room needs a display, a data point and power. Powered by a 48V/2A external adapter; the bar is not PoE-powered. Two HDMI outputs support a dual-display room. The CTP25 touch console connects over a single CAT5e run — either directly to the bar or on the same LAN — and carries both power and data, and its direct connection to the A40 means the room only has to be signed in once. Supports two additional expansion microphones — order them with the bar if the table is long or the room is wide, because retrofitting them later means revisiting the cable run.

Two 48-megapixel lenses whose images are combined to deliver a higher-resolution picture, giving a 120-degree diagonal and 110-degree horizontal field of view at up to 4K and 60fps, with 6x digital zoom, nine camera presets and an electronic gimbal. Depth of field runs from 1 to 5 metres. Two built-in stereo speakers (2 x 10W). An 8-microphone MEMS array with intelligent noise reduction, a 6-metre pickup range and 3-metre full-duplex, plus support for two optional expansion microphones. AI features include Auto Framing, Speaker Tracking, IntelliFocus and Video Fence. Runs Android 13 with ongoing upgrade support, and is compatible with Microsoft’s MDEP for improved security and deployment tooling.

Premium small-to-medium rooms — Yealink sizes it at 5 to 12 people, which covers the everyday meeting room that gets booked all day. This is the volume model for most office fit-outs: good enough optics and audio for the rooms people actually use, without the cost of the A50’s triple-camera system. The expansion microphone support is what lets it stretch into a slightly larger room than its positioning suggests.

Collaboration bar, power adapter, wall-mount bracket, CAT5e and two HDMI cables, and console or remote depending on the bundle — the CTP25 touch console ships with its own PD power adapter and desktop stand. Display and expansion microphones are NOT included. Supplied, installed and supported in Australia by Com2 Communications (1300 887 495). The bar carries a two-year hardware warranty. Power adapters supplied for the Australian market ship with an AU plug and carry the RCM mark; on a multi-room rollout, check that the AU pack is supplied and not a grey import with a US or EU adapter. Nothing stated here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

NETWORK AND ROOM READINESS: a Teams Room needs a data point at the display position, adequate bandwidth and QoS, and — for wireless content sharing — reliable Wi-Fi. The most common cause of a disappointing Teams Room is the room, not the hardware.

Against the A30: newer generation, Android 13, MDEP compatibility, dual 48MP stitched lenses and support for two expansion microphones. Both bars carry an 8 MEMS array with 6-metre pickup, so the audio gain comes from the expansion microphones rather than the built-in array. The A30 retains 10x hybrid zoom, which the A40 does not have — that is the one thing the older bar still does better in a long room.

Against the A50: the A50 adds a third camera, 50MP lenses, the Qualcomm 8550 processor, a 16-microphone array with 10-metre pickup, four speakers and support for three expansion microphones. IntelliFocus, Video Fence and MDEP are already on the A40, so they are not reasons to step up. Step up to the A50 when the room is genuinely medium-to-large or when AI framing quality is the deciding factor.
