What phone system does it work with?

The same CP935W conference phone, bundled with the Yealink W70B DECT-IP base station. The base station registers to the SIP platform — CloudPhone (Bicom), 3CX, Grandstream UCM and other standards-based systems — and the phone connects to it over DECT rather than over the site Wi-Fi. The base holds up to 10 SIP accounts across all its registered devices, but the CP935W itself uses only one. The phone can still be switched to Wi-Fi mode with one touch if needed. Note that Yealink DECT is not compatible with third-party DECT base stations or handsets.

Yealink W70B DECT-IP base station, giving up to 50 metres of indoor DECT coverage, support for up to 10 SIP accounts and up to 20 simultaneous calls, and up to 10 registered DECT devices — of which the CP935W is one, so a site wanting ten handsets as well as the conference phone needs a second base. The base is PoE-powered (802.3af, Class 1) and ships with its own adapter as an alternative. It is compact and wall-mountable, and its position should be chosen for DECT coverage of the rooms it serves rather than for cabling convenience; up to six RT30 repeaters can extend coverage from a single base. Only the phone sits on the table. The phone itself has a built-in battery giving up to 15 hours talk time and up to 167 hours standby in DECT mode — well over double the 75-hour standby it manages on Wi-Fi, because DECT is far less power-hungry. 4-hour charge time, from a 7800mAh cell* AUSTRALIAN BAND WARNING: DECT in Australia operates at 1880-1900 MHz, the same allocation Europe uses. North American stock is supplied on 1920-1930 MHz and cannot legally be operated here, and Thai and Brazilian variants are on different bands again. Australian-supplied stock also carries the correct RCM-marked power adapters, which grey imports do not — so the part number and the supply channel both matter.

Base: up to 10 SIP accounts, 20 parallel calls, 50 m indoor DECT range, PoE, and it also pairs with Yealink DECT handsets (W56H, W53H, W73H, W78H and others) subject to firmware version.

Sites where the Wi-Fi is congested, unreliable, or simply not trusted for voice — which covers a great many older office fit-outs. It is also the better commercial answer where the customer wants DECT handsets elsewhere in the building, because the same W70B base serves both the conference phone and the handsets. That makes this a natural bundle with the Yealink W-series DECT range rather than a standalone conference phone sale.

Conference phone, charger cradle, W70B base station, base stand, two Yealink power adapters, Ethernet cable and quick start guides. Both supplied power adapters ship with AU plugs and carry the RCM mark — worth checking on arrival, since there are two of them and a grey-import pack will show it here first. Emergency calling: this device depends on power and an internet connection. If either fails, it cannot make calls, including calls to 000, and it does not pass a fixed street address to emergency services the way a copper line does. Keep an alternative means of calling 000 in the room. In DECT mode, the phone depends on the base station and its network connection, so the same 000 limitation applies — the phone’s battery keeps the handset alive, but not the base station it depends on.

Against the plain CP935W: the phone is the same unit — you are paying for the W70B base station and the charger cradle and, with it, DECT rather than Wi-Fi. That buys more than double the standby time, a connection that does not compete with staff laptops for wireless bandwidth, and a base that can also run DECT handsets and up to six repeaters. If the room already has excellent Wi-Fi and no handset requirement, the plain CP935W is the cheaper answer.
