What phone system does it work with?

An open-SIP conference phone that registers its SIP account directly over Wi-Fi — no base station and no cable to the table. It works with CloudPhone (Bicom), 3CX, Grandstream UCM and other standards-based platforms. Like the CP925, it also serves as the room’s audio device for a Teams, Zoom or Webex meeting running on a connected laptop or mobile, which is not the same as being a Teams-certified phone. IMPORTANT: because it registers over Wi-Fi, call quality depends entirely on the room’s wireless coverage. A Wi-Fi site survey before deployment is worth doing — this phone will be no better than the wireless it sits on, and a room with marginal coverage is better served by the CP935W Base or a cabled CP925.

Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, 802.11a/b/g/n) with a published range of up to 300 metres depending on the access point, and Bluetooth 4.2, plus a USB 2.0 Type-C port. There is no Ethernet port and no PoE — this phone is wireless only. Powered by a built-in 7800 mAh rechargeable lithium battery: up to 15 hours talk time and up to 75 hours standby in Wi-Fi mode, with a 4-hour charge time. Supports the CPW25 Bluetooth expansion microphone. Note that these battery figures are the manufacturer’s ideal-conditions figures; real standby in a busy 2.4 GHz environment will be shorter. The phone can also be switched to DECT mode, which requires a Yealink W70B base station — so a site that later finds its Wi-Fi inadequate can add the base rather than replace the phone.

Rooms where getting a cable to the middle of the table is difficult or expensive: heritage and leased buildings with no floor boxes, glass-walled meeting rooms, boardrooms with a solid stone or timber table, and flexible or bookable spaces where the phone moves between rooms. Also good for organisations that want one conference phone shared across several small rooms rather than one per room.

Conference phone, charger cradle, Yealink power adapter and quick start guide. The supplied power adapter ships with an AU plug and carries the RCM mark. Contains a lithium battery: do not dispose of it in general waste, and check current airline rules before shipping or carrying it. Emergency calling: this device depends on power and an internet connection. If either fails, it cannot make calls, including calls to 000, and it does not pass a fixed street address to emergency services the way a copper line does. Keep an alternative means of calling 000 in the room. On this model, the Wi-Fi dependency is an additional point of failure — if the wireless network is down, the phone cannot call 000. The battery means the phone itself keeps running during a power cut, but the access point and switch it depends on will not unless they are on backup power.

Against the CP935W-Base: identical phone. The difference is that the -Base SKU includes the Yealink W70B DECT base station, so the phone runs on DECT instead of the site Wi-Fi. Choose the plain CP935W only where the Wi-Fi is known to be strong and uncongested in that room. Against the CP925: same audio class, but the CP925 is cabled and PoE-powered, so it never needs charging and never competes with the site Wi-Fi.
